TSR 2.0 evaluates 21 TVET institutions across Indonesia

EKONID, together with the German agency for international cooperation (Deutsche Gessellschaaft für Internatiole Zusammenarbeit or GIZ) and the Indonesian Ministry of Industry (MoI), has been working together under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training System Reform 2.0 (TSR 2.0). This technical cooperation project develops a self-evaluation instrument that aims to assess the performance of the secondary and tertiary vocational education institutions that implement the dual-system program in Indonesia.

As many as 21 technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions under the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Education and Culture participated in the TSR 2.0 project. In June 2022, EKONID Training & Education team visited those institutions to conduct the self-evaluation instrument. Furthermore, the team also taught the teachers and lecturers from these TVET institutions on how to use the instrument and how to do the self-evaluation on their own.

Consisting of Vocational Schools (locally known as SMKs or Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan) and polytechnic schools, these 21 TVET institutions also took part in the “Bimbingan Teknis Evaluasi Mandiri Program Pendidikan Sistem Ganda: Link and Match Meter” event organized by the MoI in September 2022 in coordination with EKONID and GIZ.

The result of the instrument is expected to help identify the quality of the implemented vocational education system and monitor the level of cooperation between TVET institutions and industries. In the end, the result of the evaluation should demonstrate how the output of TVET institutions could link and match with the needs of the industry.
