In 2016, EKONID started a 2,5 years dual vocational education program in the profession of automotive mechatronics with Astra Manufacturing Polytechnics (Polman Astra) as vocational school for the theoretical part (circa 40%) and PT Astra International Tbk as partner realizing the practical part (circa 60%) of the course.

It is the first dual vocational education project in Indonesia in Cooperation with an Indonesian provate vocational school following the German education model and standards including curriculum, examination and certivication, coordinated and quality – supervised by EKONID.

24 students from Polman Astra participated in the first automotive mechatronics class, who have passed the final exam at the end of 2018. The Examination Board was headed by EKONID. The on-going second class of 26 students started in 2018.

The dual program in Indonesia language is a specific qualification in addition to the 3- years Indonesian vocational education Polman Astra offers in automotive mechatronics. Both programs are held in parallel. The German standard curriculum applied covers the elements that doesn’t contain in the Indonesian curriculum.

The teaching, training and supervisory staff of Astra involved in the German system vocational education program had successfully completed the one-week “Training of Trainers” course certified by EKONID following the German - standard course “Ausbildung der Ausbilder (AdA)”.
